How it works

Two discounts, one price – every gold coin on Amazon, stacked and ranked.

Amazon lets a Gold coupon and a credit card instant discount apply on the same order. Neither is large on its own; together, on the right coin, they can take the price below the gold in it. AmazonGold does that sum for every coin so you can see which ones clear.

What happens

  1. The catalogue is read through Amazon's own product API. Every brand in Coins & Bars, brand by brand, with the live price, MRP and stock. Pendants, silver and anything whose weight cannot be read reliably are left out.
  2. The card offers are read from the product page, once. They are the same on every coin, so one read covers the board. Offers that need an EMI are dropped; the three banks whose plain-swipe discount saves the most on a typical coin become the chips at the top.
  3. The coupon comes first, the card second.
    listed ₹17,140 − coupon GOLD5, 5% −₹857 − card HSBC Taj 20% ≤ ₹3k −₹3,000 = you pay ₹13,283 22.5% off worth 1 g × ₹15,453 × 0.97 ₹14,989 difference +₹1,706
The card's percentage is taken on the price after the coupon, up to its rupee cap; "additional" tiers a bank offers on bigger orders are added when the order clears them.
  4. Every coin is valued against a reference rate. Its weight and purity at the jeweller's rate you pick, less a haircut for what a buyer would actually get. 22K is valued at 91.6% of 24K.
  5. Needs is the number to read. It is the total discount off the listed price that coin needs before it is worth more than you pay. Pick a coupon and a card and the board marks every coin whose stack beats it – and tells you how far the closest one is short when nothing does.

Questions

What does AmazonGold stack?
Two discounts Amazon applies together on a gold coin: the Gold coupon clipped on the product page, and the instant discount for a credit card at checkout. The coupon comes off the listed price first; the card's percentage is then taken on what is left, up to the card's rupee cap. AmazonGold shows each step and the total so you can see what you actually pay.
Why are EMI offers not shown?
Most of Amazon's bank offers apply only if the order is converted to EMI, which carries its own cost and terms. AmazonGold shows only instant discounts for a plain card payment, so the price on the board is one you can pay in full.
Why is a 10% card offer worth less than 10% on the board?
Because every card offer is capped in rupees. 10% up to ₹1,500 is the full 10% on a ₹15,000 coin but under 2% on a ₹85,000 bar. AmazonGold works the saving out per coin and shows the rupee amount, so a heavier coin is never flattered by a headline percentage.
How does AmazonGold rank the gold coins?
Each coin's price after the coupon and the card discount is compared with the value of the gold in it, from its weight and purity at the reference gold rate you choose. You see what you pay, the total discount the coin would need to break even, and the difference. Coins that clear with your stack are marked. Every coin stays on the list; nothing is hidden.
Which gold coin brands on Amazon does it cover?
Every brand in Amazon.in's Coins & Bars category, read through Amazon's own product API at each sweep – including MMTC-PAMP, Bangalore Refinery, Kalyan Jewellers, Joyalukkas, Jos Alukkas, Bhima, PMJ Jewels, P.C. Chandra, Muthoot Pappachan, Kundan, Kalamandir and Dishis. Plain coins and bars from 1 g to 10 g are shown, in 22K and 24K; pendants and silver are left out.
Where does the gold rate come from?
From Karat Board, which publishes the daily 22K and 24K rates of twelve Indian jewellers. Kalyan Jewellers' 24K rate is the default reference; you can switch to any other jeweller or set a haircut for what a buyer would actually get on resale.
Is this advice?
No. It is data points: prices, offers and a rate, with the arithmetic done. Offers change, coupons end, stock moves. Check the product page before you buy.
